Privacy Notice

Last updated: September 18, 2026. This notice describes the Freckles question-answering service as currently configured. It should be reviewed against live provider settings before the site is opened to the public.

What you submit

When you submit a question, Freckles sends it to OpenAI to interpret the request and produce or support an answer. For textbook-based questions, relevant textbook excerpts may also be sent to OpenAI. Do not enter passwords, account credentials, medical records, or other sensitive personal information.

Verification and limits

Freckles uses Cloudflare Turnstile for abuse protection. Cloudflare may process browser, device, and network information to verify requests. Freckles also uses a keyed hash derived from a visitor network address to count questions against hourly and daily limits. Its quota table stores that pseudonymous identifier and usage counts; it does not store raw network addresses or question text in that table. Shared networks may share a quota.

Providers and operational data

Vercel hosts Freckles and may process requests and operational logs. Supabase hosts the textbook database and question-limit records. OpenAI processes the questions and, when applicable, textbook excerpts. Cloudflare processes verification requests. These providers may retain their own logs and other information under their applicable settings and policies. The Freckles quota table does not describe all information processed by these providers.

Retention

Expired question-limit records are cleaned up by the application as requests are processed; removal may not be immediate when there is no subsequent traffic. Provider-side retention and any legal exceptions depend on the applicable service and account configuration. Freckles does not promise that questions or technical logs are never retained.

Cookies and analytics

Cloudflare verification and hosting infrastructure may use browser storage or process technical signals to provide their services. This notice should be updated if additional analytics, advertising, accounts, or tracking tools are added.
